Taste of
Teochew

Teochew porridge, hand-pleated kueh and yam paste, the way our grandparents made them.

Where to start

New to Teochew food, or coming home to it? These four are a good place to begin.

  • 潮州糜传统套餐

    Teochew Porridge Traditional Set

Thin, plain rice porridge served with a spread of small side dishes, each salty, savoury or tangy on purpose. It looks humble, but it’s an art of balance.

  • 潮州饭粿

    Teochew Rice Kueh

A soft, chewy, translucent skin around a savoury filling, each piece pleated by hand. Eat it warm, with a touch of chilli or sauce on the side.

  • 猪肠粉

    Chee Cheong Fun

Silky sheets of steamed rice noodle, rolled and served with sauce. Smooth, soft, and a Malaysian breakfast favourite.

  • 芋泥

    Yam Paste

A Teochew feast isn’t finished until the yam paste arrives. Silky, fragrant and gently sweet, it’s the dessert people remember.
